The park said Topsy exceeded the life expectancy of a chimp

A chimpanzee who lived at a Staffordshire theme park for nearly 40 years has died.
Topsy was one of the most popular residents at Drayton Manor Park and Zoo, a spokesman said.
She arrived at the park, near Tamworth, in 1967, aged two, and went on to celebrate her 40th birthday with a chimp's tea party earlier this year.
After a period of ill health, her condition became critical and it was decided she should be put to sleep.
She died peacefully in the company of her keepers.
'Long and happy life'
Her partner, Toto, who turns 40 next year, is said to be coping well.
Joyce Roberts, manager at the zoo, said: "The staff have been deeply affected by Topsy's death, as happens with the loss of a close family member.
"She was quite shy and retiring in character, especially compared to her partner Toto, and she had a very pleasant, gentle nature.
"We take comfort from the fact that she enjoyed a long and happy life at Drayton Manor Zoo."
The park is home to more than 100 species of animals within 15 acres of land.
