Skydiver proposes from 14,000ft
Lisa Brindley and Grant Taylor
Lisa Brindley and Grant Taylor are planning to marry next autumn
A Staffordshire secretary was stunned when her boyfriend proposed to her as they prepared to jump from 14,000ft.

Lisa Brindley, 26, was taking her first skydive with 36-year-old Grant Taylor, a keen parachutist, when he popped the question in Florida earlier this month.

The couple, who both work for JCB in Rocester, plan to marry next autumn.

Ms Brindley said: "I was already going through the range of emotions about the jump out of the plane, so when Grant proposed my head was just spinning."

'Spur of the moment'

She added: "But it seemed to scramble my thoughts and all I could think about as I made that jump was: 'How am I going to have my hair for the wedding?'"

Mr Taylor, who lives with his fiancée in Cheadle, said: "Skydiving is a major part of my life and I was thrilled Lisa agreed to do the jump so she could appreciate what I do.

"The proposal was a real spur of the moment thing but it just seemed the right thing to do at the right time - when she said 'yes' I was a very happy man."

He is now preparing to carry out a jump at JCB's 60th anniversary Open Day on 10 September.
