Couple jailed for fatal shop fire
A Turkish couple have been jailed for 11 years for the manslaughter of a Stoke-on-Trent man who died in a fire.

Colin Salt died in January 2001 after an explosion at a newsagents on Chell Heath Road, in Bradeley, where he lived in the flat above.

Shop owners, Cinar and Sibel Kemelzade, were also charged with three other offences relating to fraud and arson.

They were sentenced to eight years for those crimes at Stafford Crown Court, which will run concurrently.

Detective Inspector Roger Dutton, who led the inquiry, said he was pleased with the verdicts.

But he stressed he was still seeking to bring another person to court from Northern Cyprus in relation to the case.
