DIY woman gets stuck in cupboard
Firefighters freed a woman who had been trapped in an airing cupboard for nearly 14 hours.

Christine Mulliss, 27, was painting inside the cupboard at her home in Tamworth, Staffordshire when the door slammed shut.

She was unable to get out because she had removed the handles before starting the DIY project.

She was finally discovered at 1000 GMT the next day when a neighbour heard her banging and called the fire brigade.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the rescue, on 18 February, took about 20 minutes.

He said: "We got a call at about 10 o'clock from a neighbour who heard banging coming from the house next door.

"It appears the woman had been doing some painting inside the airing cupboard and got stuck inside when the door shut and the handle had been taken off.

"She could have been stuck for up to 14 hours but firefighters opened the door at about twenty past ten."
