Head teacher jailed for abusing boys
A head teacher and scout leader from Staffordshire has been jailed for three-and-a-half years for sexually abusing two young boys.

David John Michie, formally of Wolverhampton Road, in Penkridge, was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

The 51-year-old was convicted of four counts of indecent assault against two boys aged 12 and 13, between 1981 and 1986, following a two-week trial in September.

At Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Thursday a restraining order was also imposed on Michie preventing him from working with children for life.

Despicable bahaviour

A spokesman from Staffordshire Police said the offences were committed while Michie was a scout leader at the Penkridge Scout Group in Staffordshire.

At the time of his arrest Michie was County Commissioner of the Staffordshire Scouting movement and head teacher at Collingwood Junior School in Bushbury, Wolverhampton.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Dunning, who led the investigation, said Michie had "abused his status."

"I am pleased that justice has been served, especially for the victims who have suffered considerable trauma as a result of these offences.

"Michie occupied a position of authority and trust.

"He abused his status and acted in a most despicable manner."
