Alton Towers offers refund
Alton Towers had to offer about 600 people compensation because of problems with a new attraction.

Guests staying at the theme park's new Splash Landings Hotel complained to management because the water park had not been completed.

All of the hotel's 217 rooms were booked last weekend and guests were offered a "compensatory package."

A spokeswoman said they were very disappointed with the delays and are offering alternative arrangements to guests who are due to stay at the hotel in the near future.

Suffered delays

"Work on the attraction has suffered delays due to bad weather," she said.

"The attraction is due to be completed by the end of the month."

Meanwhile the park's designers will look again at the blueprints for a wooden rollercoaster after planning officials suggested more research needed to be done on how noisy it would be.

The opening of the ride has been put back a year to 2005.
