A job agency for over-60s in Kent has 200 people on its books and helped to find jobs for 29 people this year.
The Really Caring 60 Plus Recruitment Company was set up by Brian Kent from Tunbridge Wells, after he retired from his job at 65.
It now works with over 40 companies, finding jobs for over-60s who do not want to retire.
Mr Kent said improving health standards meant older people wanted to continue working for longer.
"With our generation, the work ethic is part of our culture and our DNA, and now we're living healthily well into our 80s we want to continue being employed," he said.
Bob Pow, who found a job at Muffet Gears in Tunbridge Wells, explained why he chose to work again.
"I was at a very large engineering insurance company for 40 years and decided to take early retirement at 60.
"I didn't miss the content of the last job but I missed the people," he continued.
"It was a change here. It is physical and I've lost some weight as well which I'm happy about, I'm enjoying myself thoroughly," he added.
Mr Tony Smith, managing director of Muffet Gears, said older workers could be relied upon.
"You know they're going to turn up on time, they're not so interested in money as the job and the workplace," he said.
