Barbara Starkey had a peaceful night following her operation
Ringo Starr's wife is spending her 60th birthday in hospital after her horse kicked her and broke her leg.

Barbara Bach, a former Bond girl, was admitted under her married name, Starkey to the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford on Sunday morning.

A spokesman for the hospital said she had a fracture in her right leg following the riding accident near the couple's home in Cranleigh, Surrey.

Her husband has been by her bedside in the hospital.

The spokesman added that the operation, which was carried out on Sunday afternoon, "went very well".

He said: "She had a stable and peaceful night and everything is going well with her recovery.

"Her condition will be assessed today but I don't think she will be discharged."
