Missing man's wife goes to Africa
William West
William West has been missing in Africa for 10 days
The wife of an East Sussex man who has gone missing in Africa is flying out to try to help police find him.

William West, 76, of St Helen's Park in Hastings, had been with his wife Kate, 26, at a holiday home in The Gambia.

The couple went on a day trip to neighbouring Senegal on 3 July but Mr West disappeared after going into a shop on his own.

Mrs West returned to the UK without her husband but is due to return to The Gambia with a family friend this week.

They will liaise directly with police investigators in Senegal and The Gambia.

Sussex Police said they were concerned for Mr West's safety and were working with international police agencies to try to establish what happened to him.

He and his wife had been holidaying in Africa for almost a month.
