Independent school 'will reopen'
Protest outside Newlands School
Newlands pupils held a protest after the school closure was announced
An independent school in East Sussex which closed down suddenly at the start of the Easter holidays has now said it intends to reopen.

According to the website of Newlands School, in Seaford, "premises have been re-obtained" and it can begin operating again as of next Monday.

The "newly-formed school" will hold pupil registration at Newlands Court, in Sutton Avenue, on Saturday morning.

The school announced it had gone into administration on 3 April.

Schools and colleges around the South East stepped in with offers of help as more than 400 children, some preparing to take GCSE and A-level exams, were left without school places.

The closure was a result of two years of financial difficulties at Newlands.

The website statement said the re-opening news followed "extremely hard work" by people behind the scenes.
