Plans for the re-modelling of Brighton marina, which include a 40-storey tower and more than 800 homes, are being submitted to the city council.

The £235m scheme was turned down last year because the proposals were deemed too big and would create traffic.

Owners of the marina, Brunswick Developments, said: "We believe we now have a scheme that addresses concerns."

But Brighton's Kemp Town Society says the 40-storey tower would obstruct their view of the coast.

Brunswick Developments acquired the long lease of Brighton Marina in 1996.

Significant changes to the original plans include the removal of three complete buildings, the addition of more leisure and sports areas and increased parking.

The developers also promise 100 permanent jobs at the marina.
