Pupils make bullying poetry book
A book of anti-bullying poems written by schoolchildren is set to be made following a Surrey Police campaign.

More than 100 youngsters from primary and secondary schools in the Guildford area entered a competition run by the local youth affairs officer.

Pc Claire Jones said the Surrey Police judges were so impressed with the entries that "they have agreed to fund a book featuring all of them".

One school involved is amending its anti-bullying policy after the contest.

Ms Jones said the school's decision came after pupils filled in a questionnaire about their own bullying experiences.

"The results were quite startling," she said.

The school is now re-writing its policy with the help of pupils, teachers and a police youth team working in Guildford.

Kay Hammond, from Surrey Police Authority, said all the anti-bullying poems deserved praise, "which is why I am pleased that a book will be produced".
