Army leadership training set up
A school for army trainers is being set up in Surrey, it has been announced.

Adam Ingram, armed forces minister, said the Army Training and Recruitment Staff Leadership School would be set up in Pirbright, Surrey, in April 2007.

He said that under current arrangements leadership training is given in targeted roadshows, and at dedicated sites at Lichfield and Catterick.

Mr Ingram said it would bring together high quality training and expertise for army personnel involved in training.

'World class training'

He said: "This new centre of excellence will provide the opportunity to share best practice - it is a tangible commitment to driving forward change in training methods throughout the Army.

"We want to ensure that every recruit gets the best possible training and support from talented and professional leaders, and I know the new Leadership School will deliver high standards at every level."

Director general of Army Training Major General Andrew Graham said: "Our soldiers deserve the very best leadership.

"This new school will ensure that all our training and supervisory staff of every rank - from Lance Corporal through to Brigadier - continue to deliver world class quality training and support to recruits."

He said it would be training and support that began from their first day in the army to the moment they were deployed on operations across the globe.
