An amateur radio station run by a 67-year-old man in Surrey has been shut down over comments thought likely to incite religious and racial hatred.
Surrey Police said they arrested the man in Addlestone within hours of a listener making a complaint.
The man's broadcast equipment was seized for examination and, after questioning, he was bailed until 9 September pending further inquiries.
Police said they were monitoring race crimes closely after the London bombs.
Ch Insp Roger Nield said: "Surrey Police has always treated any form of hate crime as a serious offence.
"In the aftermath of the London bombings we continue to closely monitor crimes based on religious and race hatred.
"We will continue to protect the rights of members of all faiths and communities to pursue their way of life as they wish, free of the fear of intimidation."
