Wine graduates take on the French
Angus and Sarah Cameron

English wine growers who learnt their trade in Sussex are testing their skills in France.

Graduates of Plumpton College, near Brighton, include Angus and Sarah Cameron, who are helping rejuvenate a vineyard in southern France.

"I signed up for a week's course and enjoyed it so much, I signed up for the two year HND," Mrs Cameron said.

They have bought a 50-hectare site near Toulouse and will be bottling their first wine in the next few weeks.

Plumpton College now has graduates from its wine courses working across the industry.

Chris Foss, head of wine studies, said: "We're not entrenched in any great traditions.

"We can teach all different styles of winemaking and give students a very wide range of skills that they can apply as they want, where they want."
