A 20-year-old man has denied stabbing a grandmother to death as she supervised a lunchtime children's party at a McDonald's restaurant.

Jackie Marshall, 57, died at the fast food outlet in Terminus Road, Chichester, West Sussex, on 16 April.

Ex-McDonald's employee Shane Freer, 20, of First Avenue, Batchmere, West Sussex, spoke only to plead not guilty to murder at Lewes Crown Court.

Mr Freer was remanded in custody to appear again on 12 August.

A trial date has yet to be set.
