Anti-social trial bikers warned
Motorcyclists who race round a common used by walkers and horse riders are being warned by police they risk having their bikes seized and destroyed.

Surrey Police said Weatherhill Common in Smallfield was being used as a race circuit by people riding trial bikes.

Officers said laws allow them to act if vehicles are driven in a manner which causes "alarm, distress or annoyance".

Anyone already given a warning in the past 12 months can have their bike seized if they offend again.

They would then have to pay £150 within 21 days to get the vehicle back, otherwise it would be destroyed.

Pc Paul Baker said the bikers had been causing danger to pedestrians and horse riders using the common.

He said: "I want to send out a warning to these reckless riders that their behaviour will not be tolerated and we will not hesitate to use all of the powers available to us to confiscate their vehicles."
