Volunteers plant schools orchard
Volunteers are planting the first trees at a community orchard in East Sussex which will supply local schools.

Ringmer Community Orchard, at Broyle Place Farm is intended to grow apples, plums and pears to supply primary schools and Ringmer Community College.

Produce will also be on sale at farm shops in the area with the aim of cutting down on shopping "food miles".

Lewes District Council, the college and Ringmer Parish Council have been involved in the orchard project.

The two-day tree planting will be launched by Lewes council chairwoman, Cllr July Carr, who will be at the farm on Saturday.
