Insurance hits village kart race
Home-made kart
No home-made karts will be racing down Church Hill in 2005
A DIY karting race which has run in a Sussex village for the past four years has been cancelled.

The Church Hill Challenge, in the village of Warbleton, East Sussex, had about 2,500 spectators in 2004.

But there will not be any home-made karts racing the 600-yard course this year because organisers say insurers are charging increased premiums.

It is claimed quotes were as much as £2,000 - eight times the amount many competitors paid in 2004.

Organiser Bryan Whitton said the cancellation was "a hell of a disappointment".
