One of Bexhill-on-Sea's largest churches was seriously damaged by fire on Monday afternoon.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to St Barnabas' Church after reports that a fire had started on the ground floor.

The blaze quickly spread to the roof and took 30 firefighters to bring it under control.

The outside of the church remained intact but many parts of the historic interior have been destroyed.

Most of the stained glass windows though have been saved.
