Man hurt in bowling alley attack
An 18-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after suffering head injuries in an attack outside a bowling alley.

Sussex Police said they had not been able to discover a motive for Friday's attack in Worthing, West Sussex.

The bowling alley, on the corner of Marine Parade and Augusta Place, and a nearby car park were shut on Saturday while forensic teams investigated.

Three teenagers were released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Undergoing surgery

One, a 16-year-old male, was arrested on Friday. Two others were held on Sunday.

The injured man was initially taken to Worthing Hospital.

He was transferred to a hospital in Essex, where he was undergoing surgery on Monday.

His condition was described as critical but stable.

Detectives said they were following up a number of lines of inquiry and were appealing to witnesses to the assault or any other incidents in the area on Friday evening.

"There were a number of youths in the town that night who may have information about this assault or an earlier fracas," said Det Sgt Pete Yarrow.
