Horse rescued after box overturns
Scrappy being rescued
Firefighters and a vet helped to rescue Scrappy from the horsebox
A horse had to be rescued from a horsebox when it overturned on a roundabout near Arundel on Monday.

Seven-year-old Scrappy suffered cuts and bruises in the accident at Whiteways roundabout and was sedated by a vet while he was rescued.

A woman passenger in the vehicle also had to be helped to safety by fire crews using a stretcher and ladders. The male driver escaped without help.

West Sussex Fire Service said Scrappy was expected to make a full recovery.

He was very shaken but tucked into the grass verge after his ordeal, a spokesman said.

Two appliances from Storrington and Littlehampton and a heavy rescue tender from Chichester attended the scene.

Sussex Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene.
