New police system 'problematic'
Policeman
The new computer system is aimed at improving police investigations
A new computer system designed to improve policing in Sussex is running more than a year behind schedule.

The force has said Project Nemesis will not be up and running until July because of delays caused by technical difficulties and staff sickness.

The new computer network will merge all data evidence to ensure police investigations run more effectively in East and West Sussex.

Sussex Police have declined to reveal the cost implication for the delay.

Project Nemesis was supposed to be working across Sussex by April 2004.

But testing of the system was only completed last month when a number of faults were discovered.
