New flower show garden for Milly
Milly Dowler and her mother Sally

The designer responsible for a memorial garden at Milly Dowler's school is creating a new one for the 2005 flower show at Hampton Court Palace in Surrey.

Penny Smith is working with Milly's Fund again for the tribute to the 13-year-old who was abducted and murdered in 2002.

As Hampton Court visitors walk around the garden they can get tips on personal safety.

It will be the second biggest garden at the show, which runs from 5 to 10 July.

Milly's parents, Bob and Sally Dowler, are active campaigners on safety issues for youngsters.

Creative landscapers

The colourful new garden will be designed around a 1950s police station house, with officers in period costume offering tips and advice on how young people can protect themselves and their property.

Sally Dowler said she hoped the garden would help people learn some "vitally important personal safety information".

Penny Smith is working on the garden with creative landscapers from Guildford College's Merrist Wood campus, where she lectures in design and landscape.

Ms Smith said Milly's parents think it is wonderful.

"They are adding all sorts of nostalgic bits and pieces to finish off the atmosphere," she said.
