Two people have been taken to hospital after a 19-year-old driver lost control of her vehicle and hit a pedestrian on a pavement in West Sussex.

Police said the Citroen Zantia car was in collision with the pedestrian at 8am on Saturday in Top Road, Sharpthorne.

A Sussex Police spokesman said both people received serious injuries and were taken to the Princess Royal Hospital, in Haywards Heath.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
