A giant redwood will become what is claimed to be the country's biggest growing Christmas tree when nearly 2,000 lights are switched on on Friday.
The tree is outside the Elizabethan mansion at Kew's country garden at Wakehurst Place, in West Sussex.
The 35m tree is so tall it always needs a light on top to warn pilots flying into nearby Gatwick Airport.
The lights were switched on for a trial run last week and could be seen for miles, the Royal Botanic Gardens said.
