The Brunswick Development plans
The development company says the plans will enhance the marina
A 37-storey tower could soon be seen on the Brighton skyline as part of a £175m development planned for the marina.

A total of 1,000 new apartments are proposed with 400 allocated to affordable housing along with bars and restaurants in 17 waterfront buildings.

A mechanical bridge will also be built to link the outer walls of the marina.

The project is expected to take six to eight years to complete and could see 300 permanent jobs created with 200 a year during the scheme's construction.

As a Brighton company, we are proud to be bringing to the city an iconic development
Andrew Goodall, Brunswick Developments

The scheme was revealed by Brunswick Developments on Wednesday.

The project is being designed by architectural firm Wilkinson Eye - famous for the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

Ken Bodfish, Brighton and Hove City Council leader, said: "I am pleased to see another set of imaginative proposals coming forward for the city.

Andrew Goodall, from Brunswick developments, said: "As a Brighton company, we are proud to be bringing to the city an iconic development, one which will expand the marina community, and we hope will come to symbolise Brighton and Hove.

"The scheme will not only bring new jobs, residents and facilities, but also promises to enhance the marina as an all-round leisure venue, offering new restaurants and a walkway around the whole site."
