Canalside village plan for port
Plans to build two new marinas within a canalside village at Shoreham Port, in West Sussex, have gone on display.

The port authority has submitted a planning application to develop land on the north bank of the canal with hopes it will create up to 1,000 jobs.

The scheme includes a courtyard surrounded by buildings for commercial, leisure, food and drink use.

Rod Johnstone, chief executive of the port authority, said he hoped it would make a big difference to the area.

The proposed development will be undertaken in five phases and will have two marinas, a new eastern marina with an access road and dry boat storage, and a rearranged western marina.

The number of berths will increase from 240 to 296.

An exhibition displaying the plans for the port can be seen at the Civic Centre in Shoreham.
