A man who died when his car left the road and collided with a tree in heavy rain has been named by police.

Russ Kearn was killed when his Volkswagen Golf hit the tree off Powdermill Lane in Battle, East Sussex.

Emergency teams were called to the scene of the crash just before 1100 BST on Monday.

Mr Kearn, a 35-year-old from Perth Road in St Leonards, was freed from the wreckage by fire crews, but died from his injuries.
