Man in court over forecourt death
Colin Stewart
Barman Colin Stewart died three days after he collapsed
A man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a barman who collapsed and died after an alleged fight at a petrol station.

James Venn is charged with unlawfully killing 32-year-old Colin Stewart last month.

Mr Stewart was found collapsed on the doorstep of his home in Hanbury Lane, Haywards Heath, following the incident at the Esso Garage in Franklyn Road on 21 June.

He died three days later in hospital, after surgeons removed a blood clot from his brain.

Mr Venn, 23, of Highfield Drive, Hurstpierpoint, appeared before a judge at Lewes Crown Court on Wednesday.

He entered no plea to the charge and was remanded in custody to appear at the court for a plea and directions hearing on 5 September.

Mr Venn's father, Mark Venn, 44, of Street Lane, Ardingly, is due to appear before Crawley Magistrates' Court in August charged with a public order offence in connection with the incident.
