Girl in car collision dies
A 13-year-old girl has died after colliding with a car as she tried to cross a road.

Stephanie Gibson, of Smallfield, received severe head injuries in the incident on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at Atkinson Morley Hospital at noon on Thursday.

The teenager was trying to cross the road on a bridge over the M23, in Smallfield, when she was struck by a black Honda Civic, Surrey Police said.

She had been walking along Weatherhill Road with a group of three teenage friends, none of whom were hurt.

Stephanie was initially taken to East Surrey Hospital and later transferred to Atkinson Morley Hospital.

Surrey Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
