City in £75,000 allotments boost

More than 250 new allotment plots are to be created in Sheffield in a £75,000 city council project.

The first phase of the scheme will see 114 plots developed near Manor Top and at Moss Way near Crystal Peaks, with another nine at High Wincobank.

Work will also start in the new year on clearing another 43 plots at Rivelin.

Council allotments officer John Martin said: "There's a waiting list right across the city which is why we're desperate to get more plots on stream."
