Fresh talks over proposed strikes

Talks are taking place between managers at bus operator First and union officials to try to avert two further strikes by drivers in Sheffield.

Workers have already staged four days of walkouts in the city, following a row over disciplinary issues.

Two strikes on 7 and 8 November were called off after some of the grievances were addressed, but further strikes are still planned for 12 and 15 November.

The dispute centres on issues at Sheffield's Olive Grove bus depot.

The Unite union said the issues included grievances over the way the company handled workers who had taken sickness leave and First's "attitude to disciplinary action".

First said it hoped the remaining matters could be resolved during the talks on Tuesday.
