Burned man critical after arson

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after he suffered burns in a suspected arson in Sheffield.

The man, aged in his 40s and from Sheffield, was injured when fire broke out above a shop in Abbeydale Road, Highfield, at 2330 GMT on Thursday.

About 30 firefighters tackled the fire to stop it spreading to adjacent shops and offices.

The fire service and police are investigating but said they believed the fire was started deliberately.
