Second bus strike date cancelled

A second day of planned strike action by bus drivers in Sheffield has been called off, the company's operators have said.

First workers had planned to walk out on 7 November and Remembrance Sunday in a dispute over disciplinary issues.

Unions had already called off the Remembrance Sunday strike.

The 7 November strike has now also been cancelled after some of the issues were resolved. Two further strikes for 12 and 15 November are still planned.

The dispute centres on disciplinary issues at Sheffield's Olive Grove bus depot.

The Unite union said the issues included grievances over the way the company handled workers who had taken sickness leave and First's "attitude to disciplinary action".
