Home worker hit vulnerable adults

A care worker has been found guilty of abusing vulnerable adults at a South Yorkshire home.

Jane Harris, 45, punished one adult at the Travis Gardens home in Hexthorpe, Doncaster, by hitting her over the head with the arm of another resident.

She was convicted at Doncaster Crown Court of six charges of ill treatment or neglect and will be sentenced on 16 November.

Harris, of Priory Close, Conisbrough, was cleared of a seventh charge.

The offences happened between May and August 2007.

Chris Williams, from Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber Mental NHS Foundation Trust, which owns the care home, said concerns were raised about Harris' behaviour by her colleagues.

"We immediately launched our internal investigation and notified police."
