Call centre workers to lose jobs

More than 100 people are to lose their jobs at a National Rail Enquiries call centre in South Yorkshire.

The company said the transfer of operations from Wath-upon-Deane to India was a business decision made for "financial reasons".

Leeds-based outsourcing firm Ventura, which was contracted to provide staff for the centre, said it had entered a 90-day consultation with employees.

A spokeswoman said it would try to redeploy as many staff as possible.
