Four held over 'gangland' murder

Four men have been arrested over a murder in Sheffield which police believe was gang-related.

James Kamara, 22, was shot dead with a semi-automatic weapon in Brunswick Street, Broomhall, on Wednesday.

Three other men aged in their early 20s were injured in the shooting, which is thought to be linked to an earlier disturbance in Devonshire Street.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Liverpool. Three other men, aged in their 20s, were arrested in Sheffield.

All four men are from the Sheffield area, police said.

A man who was arrested soon after the incident has been released without charge.

One of the injured men, a 21-year-old from Sheffield, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. He suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and arm.

The other two men suffered minor injuries.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the shooting and the Devonshire Street disturbance to come forward.

Glasses were thrown during the confrontation in Devonshire Street, at about 1700 BST, which involved two large groups of men and lasted about five minutes.

The shooting in Brunswick Street happened at 1830 BST.

The gunmen are believed to have fled in a silver Vauxhall Vectra, registration FJ52 GWP, which was found abandoned later in the evening.
