Wind farm plans to be displayed

The company is to submit the plans to the council

Six wind turbines could be installed on land in Rotherham under plans for a wind farm development.

Banks Development wants to build the 433ft (132m) turbines at Penny Hill between Ulley and Thurcroft.

A series of exhibitions will be held in the town on 14 and 15 July to allow residents to view the proposals.

The company said if plans were approved communities around the site would benefit from schemes introduced to help tackle fuel poverty.

The exhibitions will be held at Ulley Village Hall and Aston Parish Hall on 14 July between 1500 BST and 1700 BST.

'Benefit community'

Further displays will take place between the same time at Thurcroft Welfare Community Hall and Ulley Village on 15 July.

Rob Williams, renewables project development at Banks Development, said: "Generating energy from renewable sources such as wind farms is becoming increasingly important, but alongside this, Banks believes that it is also very important that the communities in which this energy generation takes place benefit from it as well."

The company said it would tackle fuel poverty by providing information, advice and funding towards measures to help reduce energy consumption.

Banks said it would also work with community groups on how they might use renewable energy sources to cut costs.

The company said it would be shortly submitting plans to Rotherham council.
