Home gutted by lightning strike

Living room after lightening strike fire
The couple had been modernising the house for three years

A house in Sheffield has been badly damaged after being struck by lightning during a storm.

Shaun Finnerty and Emily Cosgrave were out when the lightning struck, causing a fire in their terraced house which gutted the ground floor.

A builder who was working in the property at the time of the lightning strike was unhurt.

The couple were philosophical about their loss saying it was only "bricks and mortar".
