Stickers are being put on bottles and cans in a South Yorkshire village so police can trace where under age drinkers are buying alcohol.
The Bottlewatch scheme is running in Goldthorpe, near Barnsley.
The system provides each store with a unique code so the stickers attached to drink cans and bottles can be traced back to them.
Police hope the scheme will cut under age drinking, criminal damage, littering and anti-social behaviour.
Shop staff found to be selling alcohol to under age drinkers can be given on-the-spot fines.
Shop owners can be fined or have their licences suspended, altered or revoked.
