Post fight goes to Downing Street

Campaigners
Park Grange is one of dozens earmarked for closure

Campaigners fighting the proposed closure of a post office in Sheffield are taking their protest to Downing Street later.

Residents and council leader Paul Scriven will deliver the petition in a bid to save the Park Grange branch.

It is one of dozens across the county earmarked for closure.

Park Grange has been described as the "last man standing" as it is the only shop in Norfolk Park to have survived ongoing redevelopment.

Sheffield City Council started a campaign and an online petition to save the city's 16 post office branches.

The council said that early analysis had shown some of the areas affected had high numbers of people receiving benefits, below average household incomes and significant numbers of retired residents.

Council leader Paul Scriven said: "The focus and aim of our campaign remains to keep all of our post offices open."
