A couple were arrested after a baby was left locked in a car in Sheffield on one of the hottest days of the year.
Officers were called to the Morrison's supermarket car park in Halfway last Friday as temperatures hit 25C (77F).
They broke a window to release the six-month-old child, who was later taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital for checks.
A 37-year-old man and a woman, aged 21, were arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "At around 4pm on Friday 25 July officers attended an incident following reports of concern regarding a young baby.
"The baby boy, believed to be aged about six months old, had been left alone inside a car, parked in a supermarket car park in the Halfway area of the city.
"The baby was conveyed to the Children's Hospital as a matter of precaution, however the infant was not admitted to hospital.
"Two people, a 37-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
"The pair, who are not from the Sheffield area, have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries."
