Fire evacuees allowed back home

Residents in about 25 homes were evacuated

Residents in South Yorkshire who were forced to spend two nights away from their homes after a gas cylinder fire have been allowed to return.

About 25 houses were evacuated on Friday afternoon when a van containing a gas cylinder caught fire.

A 200m cordon was put in place on Hill Top, in Brierley, Barnsley.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said residents returned home on Sunday morning. A 28-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
