A young man has been shot dead in Sheffield in what is believed to be a targeted attack, said detectives.
The man, who has not been identified, was gunned down on Spital Street in the Spital Hill area on Friday afternoon.
A police spokesman said patrols had been stepped up in the area and nearby Burngreave as officers carried out door-to-door inquiries.
He added: "It is believed this was not a random attack, although the investigation is at an early stage."
Officers were called to the street off Spital Hill Road when gunshots were heard at just after 1345 BST.
The victim is thought to be aged in his late teens or early 20s.
The incident happened a few streets away from where Jonathan Matondon, 16, was shot dead in October 2007.
Negus Nelson, 19, is to face a retrial for the teenager's murder after a jury failed to reach a verdict in April at Sheffield Crown Court.
