Man is critically hurt in attack

Detectives in South Yorkshire are investigating an attack on a 19-year-old man that has left him critically ill.

Police said the victim had suffered a number of injuries to his body and was believed to have been stabbed.

He was taken to the Northern General Hospital by three teenagers in a car in the early hours. Police said the youths were being questioned.

Witnesses or anyone with information are being asked to contact police.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "The details surrounding the circumstances are vague.

"It is believed the assault happened in the early hours but we're not sure where the attack took place.

"Detectives are urging anyone who can help piece together the movements of the man up until he was attacked to contact them."
