'Eyesore' rivers given makeover

Unsightly rivers in Sheffield will be given a makeover as part of a £140,000 scheme to clean up the environment.

Litter and debris which was left deposited in bushes and trees along the riverbanks during the summer floods will be removed.

Sheffield City Council wants residents to notify them of any eyesores.

Councillor Paul Scriven said: "This litter is extremely unsightly and detracts from the appearance of the city's riverside scene."
