Boy in dock over 999 call death

Accident scene
Police are seeking witnesses to the crash on Attercliffe Common

A teenager has appeared in court accused of making hoax calls to the fire service after a woman died in a crash with a fire engine in Sheffield.

The car and the engine collided on Attercliffe Common at the junction with Weedon Street on Sunday night.

Nicola Stacy, 36, of Wincobank, was killed and her 10-year-old daughter was left critically ill in hospital.

The boy, 17, faced magistrates in Doncaster charged with making false reports to the fire service.

It is alleged that he made hoax 999 calls on three separate occasions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

A post-mortem examination on Mrs Stacy's body is due to be carried out later.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will next appear before Doncaster Youth Court on 21 July.
