Hundreds of people turned out in Sheffield to join the celebrations for the city's Veterans' Day to honour the work of the armed forces.
Dozens of veterans gathered for the ceremony on Millennium Square before parading to the town hall.
There the Lord Mayor, Councillor Jane Bird, presented the men and women with Veterans' Day medals to mark the occasion and note the city's gratitude.
Later, visitors and veterans took part in a wartime waltz.
Ms Bird said the city had decided to show its respect for the sacrifices many had made in a number of conflicts.
"Sheffield is proud of its veterans and the sacrifices they've made for us, for this city and this country," she said.
"This day is an opportunity for us to celebrate their contribution and to officially express our gratitude to them."
