Town's park to get £4.5m facelift

Rotherham's Clifton Park is to get a £4.5m revamp thanks to a lottery grant.

Money from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund will be used to repair the memorial garden, cenotaph, rock garden and the bandstand.

It will also fund a water play area to replace the 70-year-old paddling pool and open up neglected pathways.

Rotherham council's director of culture and leisure, Phil Rogers, said: "The time is right to breathe new life into the park's landscape and facilities."

The grade II listed park also houses the Clifton Park Museum, which has recently been refurbished.
